Blog Entry #4

If I had five days to "get away from it all" I would go to the Saugeen Camp Ground on the Saugeen river near the Saugeen falls in Durham. I could get there in about four hours if I drove, three if I'm fast.
Bit the reason why I want to go there is because it's outside a small town, and ride on the bank of a river. It's peaceful and quite far away enough from civilization to relax, but close enough to a town to run into and get daily necessities... like food. Another reason is most of my relatives live in the Grey County area (which the campground is in) so it would be nice to visit all them folks. It be pretty easy, pack a sleeping bag, tent, pillow, food, clothes, and my mom will worry about the rest (whether I like it or not). So if I wanted to escape this is what I'd and where I'd go, just take it easy for five day's then come back to the craziness. Oh boy.

Blog Entry #5

I think Igby is the most true to himself and lives up to his own ethics and morals because what he says he does, he doesn't keep moping around waiting to get into "the right mood" of things, he tends to take immediate action. Igby like s to annoy people he doesn't like, which is about every one he knows and is quit good at it, and does things to make himself feel better. Even if it means having to work, and working for someone you hate.

Holden however does not live up to his own morals and ethics, and really isn't true to himself, because even though he does rebel and does things to annoy people, and he never really strives for anything, He still at heart wants to live like everyone else, and at times he is. The main problem is he's to lazy to work hard enough to get anywhere and hides behind the excuse that everyone is a bunch of phonies and that really annoys him.

For example, Igby and Holden both seem to want to go off to some other place to "get away" and live their own life the way they want to. At the end of the movie Igby Goes Down Igby decides to go and live in California to do whatever, but at the end of Catcher in the Rye Holden decides to listen to his family, and is going back to school in the fall, he is also getting psychiatric help.

Blog Entry #3

In the book Catcher in the Rye Holden tends to call people he doesn't like phonies, which is just about everybody. Holden himself is very judgemental and has a poor outlook on life and people, which would explain how he depresses himself so easily. I believe Holden himself is a phony, all the things he blames other people for being phony for is something he himself does. for example how Stradlader moves from girl to girl, using them for his own agenda than dumping them and moving on without caring. Holden often, in the novel is putting the moves on women, no matter who they are, and all ways trying to get laid, except when ever he gets close to it he always gets nervous and backs out. I think if Holden actually cared, and tried to see the better of people, and grew a backbone he would be a lot better off, be doing better in school, and wouldn't always be getting depressed, until this happens I don't think he'll ever get a girl or anywhere in life, the only reason why he's doing so bad is because of his own laziness.
In short Holden needs to grow up and stop acting like a huge phony.

I do not believe that it is unavoidable to conform to the world or society, although from the book Catcher in the Rye Holden does seem to go with what eve'rs going on, he doesn't rise above the crowd and makes no attempt to change, if anything he sinks far below, but his sister and dead brother Allie did strive for something better they didn't want to go through the daily drawl of life like everyone else, they tried to be different, they did the best they could in school and other parts of life, and liked to make other people happy. with myself I feel I'm not apart of this world, I don't like how it runs the way it does and don't much like being "like" everyone else, I try to be different, I have more fun that way, besides I am a christian, and in the bible it says to not conform to the ways of the world and fall into sin, so even if I was like that I'd have to try not to anyways,if I didn't I wouldn't be a very good christian would I? This is why I believe that conforming to the world isn't unavoidable, because it hasn't happened to me and it hasn't happened to Sally or Dead Allie.

Journal

I believe what means to be a good person is when someone will willingly do anything for someone else out of good will and not expect anything in return. People don't have to be nice or generous, they could just live out their life normally and not care about anything, and no one else would really care, but who wants to live like that? I n my life I found that when I wasn't just living for myself, but also to help others, make other people feel good about who they are, even if I got nothing back, I feel better, I get real joy from that. But when I'm felling down and don't care about other people think and just keep to myself it tends to send people away they don't want to be around me I BECOME THE MOST DESPICABLE PIECE OF GARBAGE THAT EVER WALKED THE FACE OF THIS EARTH IN MY ABYSMAL MISERY. whoa sorry got carried away, but anyways being kind is also good for yon health because it keeps ye ole blood pressure down and helps you live longer. And also when I think about Catcher in the Rye I think how much diffrent his life would be different if people really where "good people" and not just phonies like he calls people who pretend to act different than they are.
In short I think that to be a good person you have to "live as a good person".
